Yankees on Top of AL East

The New York Yankees are surprising everyone, except maybe Yankees ticket holders, as they pound their way through the schedule and currently reside on top of the AL East. The Yankees are 15-10 and hold a two and a half game lead over the Baltimore Orioles at 12-12.

Looking back over recent history it’s obvious the Yankees are holding their own. We’ve seen a 3-1 series win over Boston in Yankee Stadium followed by a 2-0 run against the Cubs. Heading on the road, New York managed a split with Tampa Bay, then a 2-1 series victory in Boston against the Red Sox. Now they’ve completed a 2-0 run against the Angels and tonight’s opening game in Seattle will see Sabathia on the mound, with Yankees tickets returning home for the next six games.

Overall, a very satisfying run for New York baseball fans who had to be wondering where the offense would come from with Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson moving on. Let’s not forget, the New York Yankees are coming off of a season that saw their worst standings in almost two decades. It was an interesting offseason and it’s been an interesting beginning to the 2014 baseball season as Derek Jeter returns for the final time.

Next up after the Angels will be the Tampa Bay rays, followed by road trips to Los Angeles to meet the Angels then out to Milwaukee where the Brewers await.
